Steve Hawkins considers himself a native Montanan even though he was born in Tennessee. He has lived his entire life here except for his first few months. Steve was raised in the Yaak, the far northwest corner of the state. Some consieder this area still untamed. He attended grade school in a one-room school house with one teacher for all eight grades. He spent his youth hunting and fishing this untamed area, and grew up loving the outdoors. |

| Steve considers himself a wildlife conservationist, always
active with the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Parks, currently
on the Citizens Advisory Council. He is also active with the Montan
Outfitters and Guides Association and is interactive with the Forest Service.
